2011 50k course details

The Sun Mountain 50km course will be nearly all single track or double track dirt roads and will take place at the Sun Mountain Trail System in Winthrop, Wa. The course will have about 5000ft of elevation gain--most of the gain from 3 significant climbs and the rest from numerous small climbs(200ft or less). The course will pass mountain lakes, go through old forests and run out in the open shrub-steppe landscape filled with sagebrush and blooming balsam root flowers. There will be a bunch of great views of the Methow River Valley, the North Cascades, Chelan Sawtooths, and Okanogan Mountain Ranges.
